Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®

Miss Lyndsay's boyfriend, Jim, participated in the event to show his support and to prove that he could, in fact, "walk the walk!"

Miss Lyndsay was asked to participate in a community event downtown Fort Wayne at Headwater's Park on Sept. 6, 2008. The event was entitled Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®. There is an old saying: "You can't really understand another person's experience until you've walked a mile in their shoes." Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® asks men to literally walk one mile in women's high-heeled shoes because WHY? To get the community talking.

It helps men better understand and appreciate women’s experiences, thus changing perspectives. It helps improve gender relationships and decreases the potential for violence. It informs the community that services are available for recovery. It demonstrates that men are willing and able to be courageous partners with women in making the world a safer place.

Miss Lyndsay's job was to ensure that the men, over 300,  who participated in this walk were properly warmed up! It's not everyday these men walk in high heels, so they needed Miss Lyndsay to guide them through

a few exercises to stretch their muscles, test their balance, and rotate their ankles to avoid injury! (
As a former Miss Fort Wayne, Lyndsay has walked a few miles in high heeled shoes!).
